Now that I've purchased the eGO Classic, I was rummaging around and took another look at my poor forgotten Amplifier A7 scooter. Back about a year and a half ago, I was riding it to the Metro and hit a huge pothole. The county was rebuilding the sidewalk and redoing the handicap ramp at an intersection. I didn't see that there was a huge gap between the street and the curb so went through that 5 inch gap and broke the plastic rear axle of the A7. What a sad day that was. I loved the A7 and haven't been able to find a replacement axle for it. The A7's axle is unique in that it contains both the drive belt cogs on one side, but also a smallish disk brake rotor on the other side.

What I really loved about the A7 was the fact that it was relatively light (34 lbs) and could easily be carried on board the subway that I take to work. It saved me from having to take the bus every day and was great fun to ride at lunch time in downtown Washington, DC. I miss that tremendously. Ah well.

I will endeavor to come up with something creative and report back any findings (wish me luck!).
